The Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal and the Foundation of Prince Albert II of Monaco have signed a cooperation agreement covering joint research and conservation projects in the Mediterranean and Lake Baikal region. The agreement covers:
• Joint research on and efforts to conserve Lake Baikal and the surrounding natural heritage, the lake being a unique source of fresh water
• Joint research on the natural water systems and their associated biospheres, locally and nationally, as well as those of the Mediterranean Sea
• The formation of a single scientific position and a single assessment of the risks and damage to the environment associated with human activity.
