The Chairman of the Guardianship Board and professor of the Geography Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University Mikhail Slipenchuk was appointed the Interim Holder of the Chair in Rational Nature Management.
M.Slipenchuk is a graduate of the Rational Nature Management Department (1987). In 1993, he completed post-graduate studies at the Geography Factuly of Lomonosov Moscow State University, defended the dissertation on Specifics of aerotechnical pollutants accumulation in towns and gained a PhD in Geography.
In 2010, M.Slipenchuk was awarded a PhD in Economics (dissertation on Integration of the new economic area of Russia: global, corporate and regional aspects).
M.Slipenchuk wrote monographs on Trans-Asian cluster system: geopolitical foresighting and Formation of financial and industrial clusters: regional globalisation factors and a number of articles published in Works of the Institute of Systems Analysis of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Economic strategies and Management theory and practice magazines and other sources.
The Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal works in close cooperation with the Geography Faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State Unviersity. The Fund provides organisational support to expeditions and student fieldwork, publishes scientific works of the faculty.
Background
Rational Nature Management Department of the Geography Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University was founded in 1987. It was founded and irreplaceably chaired (until 2011) by a distinguished Russian geographer, Meritous Scientist, PhD in Geography, Meritous Professor of the Moscow State University, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kapitsa (1931-2011).
The graduates of the department are environmental geographers, experts in rational nature management, ecological monitoring and protection of environment, working in scientific, educational and application areas. They are Russian leading specialists in terms of analysis, substantiation and decision-making for comprehensive assessment and use of natural resources.
