37 people from all corners of Russia and the world participated environmental camp in the Baikal region of Republic of Buryatia opened by the Baikal shore service in the partnership with the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal. For the first two weeks 455 bags of garbage, much of which have been excavated from the ground, were collected. The area of work and patrol service was more than 20 km. In addition to working of cleaning the coast from the garbage, the volunteers also conducted an active educational campaign. To the delight of the volunteers one can note that the local population and tourists react positively to the communication and often leave behind a clean area and sorted garbage.
The opening of the second phase of the eco camp will take place on August 2.
